Two held with 33 kg of marijuana

New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) Two people, including a woman, were arrested with 33 kg of marijuana in the national capital, police said Wednesday.

'Rashmi and Utpal Barman, both from Assam, were held from Kishanganj railway station in east Delhi Monday,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Singh Yadav.

During interrogation, they told police that Raju, a resident of Assam, had asked them to bring the contraband to Delhi from Assam and promised them Rs.1,000 each, apart from all the expenses.

Rashmi had earlier also brought a consignment from Assam and had handed it over to Raju in Karol Bagh.

'Her husband is a farmer and they are under debt. To earn quick money she started bringing drugs to Delhi,' said Yadav.
