Cab fleet owner, wife held for killing three

Caught finally
DEADLY DUO: Shashi Kiran planned the murders with husband
NEW DELHI: Their crimes read nothing less of a thriller, only the circumstances are grimmer.

A couple, engaged in one of Delhi's biggest transport businesses -- they have 250 rental cars for SAIL and another 100 for a leading IT company -- and running two different marriage bureaus at Lado Sarai and their driver were arrested in south Delhi for allegedly murdering three men in three separate cases for the past six months. While the murder plan was essentially laid by the couple, the accused driver acted as their contract killer charging Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for each murder.

The couple had even promised their driver a duplex flat at the Paryavaran complex where they reside near PVR Saket after he "successfully executed" the third murder. "There is every possibility that the couple might be involved in some other criminal incidents including murder," said DCP (south) H G S Dhaliwal.

The arrested have been identified as Mishan Singh Tomar (49), the owner of "Kiran Travels" which has a fleet of 250 vehicles, his wife Shashi Kiran (46) who owns "Perfect Marriage Jodi' and "Gathbandhan Matromonial Service" and their driver Sarvender Singh Dalal (27). The trio's last victim was one Sanjeev Kumar Dass (28), a business partner who had joined the firm as the manager of the Perfect Jodi bureau. He had gone missing on March 7 and his elder brother -- a senior home ministry officer, had blamed his partner Tomar for murdering him. Though cops said Tomar had told them he got Dass murdered due to a financial dispute and he believed he was being cheated, cops said that Dass probably came to know about the murder of two other men.

"Initially, the bait was dangled to him and he was eventually murdered when he let down his guard," said the investigating officer.

Tomar meanwhile suffered three heart attacks and despite being in weak physical condition, he allegedly conspired with Kiran and Sarvender to eliminate Dass. "He called Sanjiv from a new SIM card obtained on forged documents on the pretext that he would finalise the sale deed of the lado Sarai bureau in favour of Sanjiv in Mehrauli Tehsil. They strangulated Sanjiv in the car and later went to Gulawati area and dumped the body in bushes near a drain in the area of Police Station Bibi Nagar. Before using the Honda City car in crime, they got black film applied on the glasses and purchased a rope and blanket from shops in Mehrauli to execute their plan," Dhaliwal said. Tomar claimed that Sanjiv was made a partner in the firm as the physical condition of Tomar was not good enough to run the Bureau. "Sanjiv controlled all the activities and even Shashi Kiran who was the present proprietor of the bureau failed to attend the Bureau regularly. A dispute of money arose and relations got strained. Sanjiv. Tomar has also got suspicious that Sanjiv had come to know about the killing of Ashok and Hussain by him and may blackmail him," Dhaliwal said.

The first person, though, to be murdered by the trio was Ashok tomar (45), the brother of Kiran on whom the couple had to spent Rs 25,000 every month due to his mental ailment,. "He was also eying the ancestral property owned by Kiran's family. In fact, the property is owned by Kiran's four brothers and they had objected when Kiran had shifted to Saidullahjab with her husband. But Kiran said she would take care of Ashok. However, after sometime, Ashok began demanding money and his share of ancestral property back from Kiran but they decided to get rid of him permanently.," said Dhaliwal.

"Tomar called Sarvender and they both took Ashok to Gulawati and after killing him, threw his body in the "Kali river" in Bulandshahr area around five months ago. Ombir Singh, the eldest brother of deceased and a retired section officer of Govt.of India has now lodged a report with police station Mehrauli," Dhaliwal said.

The trio also murdered Mohammad Abrar Hussain (42), their manager for ten years on January 14, 2011 and disposed his body on the railway track near Bulandshahr. The body is yet to be located. Cops said Hussain allegedly cheated him and diverted Rs one crore in his bank account. "Besides, he also came to know that Hussain had developed some intimacy with his wife. Accordingly, Dalal picked up Hussain from the Saidulajab area and they killed him by strangulating in one of the rooms of their own house and later dumped the body on railway track in Gulawati," Dhaliwal said.

Sarvender, an alleged hired assassin -- with atleast 17 cases of murder and other charges against him -- joined as Tomar's driver two years ago. He was getting Rs 8,000 per month.
