"The (first) incident was reported at 8pm on Thursday when a 25-year-old woman hailing from northeast India was returning to her rented residence in southeast Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur area," said a senior police officer.
The victim was metres away from her residence when three men, including a minor, passed lewd comments at her. When she reacted, one of the accused threw a water balloon at her bag, the police said.
"According to the victim, she pulled-out her cell phone to take a picture of the accused after they passed comments on her. Fearing that they would get caught, one of them slapped her before the trio fled the scene," the officer said, adding that a case has been registered and a juvenile residing in the area has been detained for questioning.
In the second incident, that was reported on Friday evening from northeast Delhi's Seemapuri, a 28-year-old woman who was returning home from work was allegedly attacked with colour laced with acid by two unidentified bike-borne assailants.
"The victim, who works as a saleswoman at a showroom in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar, was returning to her residence in Dilshad Colony when two bike-borne men approached her, one of them got off the bike, smeared colour on her face and wished her 'happy holi' before making a run for it," said a senior police officer.
Even as the men fled and the victim could reconcile herself with the incident, she started feeling a burning sensation on her face.
"Within a few minutes, she informed us that she felt a burning sensation and that her face had started itching. She was rushed to GTB Hospital where doctors confirmed that the colour was laced with acid," the officer said.
Police have detained few suspects for questioning in the matter.
