While this won't bring any solace to Radhika Tanwar's family, her college mates might be able to breathe easy in a month's time.

A day after the shocking murder of the 20-year-old Ram Lal Anand (RLA) College student in Dhaula Kuan, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh announced that the transportation problem, which the students have been facing for quite some time now, would soon come to an end. MiD DAY had reported yesterday, how the absence of a bus service that would drop students at the doorstep of the college was forcing the youngsters to walk through an 'unsafe' 2-km stretch which is considered a happy hunting ground for eve-teasers. Radhika was shot dead in this area while she was crossing the road via a pedestrian bridge, on her way to college.

Prof Dinesh Singh was in the college premises on Wednesday to address the students and staff of the college in crisis. Reminiscing Radhika the college authorities kept a silence for two minutes. The college authorities attributed the entire problem to the non-existent security and the vulnerability of the area where two main colleges of south campus, RLA and Moti Lal Nehru, are situated. No classes were held in the morning college as all the students were on the road demanding justice for Radhika. The V-C promised to beef up security of south campus, patiently listening to all the complaints and suggestions.
In a mail sent to Delhi's top cop BK Gupta, family members of Radhika Tanwar have allegedly accused the police of tarnishing the image of the family. A student of RML, Radhika, was shot dead on Tuesday on a foot over-bridge when she was going to college.
Radhika's uncle Pramod Tanwar rubbished the claims of south Delhi police that the killing was the handiwork of a jilted lover. The family members had earlier denied any knowledge about the stalker but cops had said the deceased had told her family and friends that someone was following her for the past few days.
"We have not beaten up anybody for stalking Radhika. We have never given any such statement to the police and are hurt to know that such comments are being propagated by the media. Police is giving its own version to the media and we have complained against this to the police commissioner," said Pramod.
DCP (south) HGS Dhaliwal had said on Tuesday: "We have got information about a stalker and the victim's relatives have confirmed that Radhika had indeed told them about this. We are investigating the case from every angle."
The mysterious killer
On the basis of three eye-witnesses accounts, police has released a sketch of the killer. The three who were present at the spot suggested that the accused is around five feet five inches tall with a wheatish complexion, cops said.
However, the DCP said no one has come forward as an eye-witness in the case. "Three persons approached the police with a vague idea of the assailant who ran away immediately after firing at Radhika. They helped us to make a sketch of the suspect," said the officer. Dhaliwal said only one assailant was involved in the murder and he shot at the girl with a .315 bore country made pistol.
