26-year-old Shankar Thapa and 24-year-old Virgina Shenpin were in a relationship and had been staying together in Gautam Vihar area of Hauz Khas in south Delhi. Shenpin's friend Adreline (23) was also staying with them.
Police said Thapa and Shenpin, who had apparently returned from China and were preparing for a Medical Council of India examination, had a break-up three days back after which Thapa was asked to go out of the house.
They were living in the house since last month.
Today, Thapa returned to the house in the morning on the pretext of taking his belongings and tried convincing his former girlfriend, police said.
When she refused to listen to him, he attacked the woman twice with a knife.
