Says she was being pressurised not to marry a man from a different community
A 28-year-old Kashmiri woman called the police on Tuesday morning alleging that she was being harassed by her parents. Sources in Delhi police said the woman, Aadiya Thakur, had alleged that her parents were pressurising her not to marry the man she loved as he belonged to another community.

A senior police officer said that Thakur, who stays in Srinivaspuri area of south Delhi, has done her Masters in Fine Arts and is currently doing a course in sculptures from Lalit Kala Akademi. She had claimed that she was in love with a man who stays in Delhi and wanted to marry him but her parents were opposing the decision.
"Her parents had come to Delhi from Jammu and Kashmir to meet her and had been staying at Jammu and Kashmir House in Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi for the last few days. On Tuesday morning, when Aadiya went to meet them, they had a discussion about her marriage which ended up in an argument after which she made a call to PCR from there itself," said a senior police officer.
After the call, she along with her parents were brought to the police station. The police officials said that woman's brother, who is pilot with a private airline, came to the Chanakyapuri police station and requested for a compromise.
"His brother has assured us that nothing like this will ever happen again and we have taken in writing from the complainant (woman) that there was a misunderstanding between her and her father and that she doesn't want any action against them now," the police officer said. Sources said that the man whom Thakur loves is a senior artist at Lalit Kala Akademi. Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi district, Dharmendra Kumar said that no case was registered in this regard.
