Having a dog to keep thieves away may be a good idea, but not , it appears, if it happens to be of the pedigree kind.
Far from scaring thieves away they are being abducted by them in Koramangala much to the dismay of owners like Resham Gupta who lives in 3rd Block.
Her one year old pug, Hip Hop was grabbed by three men on a motorcycle as he was being taken for a walk by the watchman even before he could step out of the gate last week.
The street which is dotted with homes of big names like Nandan Nilekani has seen a string of pedigree dogs being kidnapped by thieves. Most dog owners don't bother to go to the police assuming they will not be of much help.
Resham has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for anyone who finds her dog, but all she has received are prank calls.
“We have registered a police complaint, but this may not help as the police have their hands full with other more important cases,” says Resham who feels it is important to find the thieves as they could just as easily take a child the next time.
